It was recently announced by Google that it will incorporate a new signal for ranking images. It has introduced a new scheme attempting to make the search results of Images racially more different with variety and unique.
Google uses MST scales for ranking the images. MST is known as the Monk Skin Tone scale. Using the MST, Google will be adjusting the image rankings. The MST scale looks like a shade scale with ten shades in it. It was developed by the Harvard Processor and sociologist Dr. Ellis Monk.
As per the announcement, Google has incorporated MST into image searches along with other image products. It is believed that Google will expand this scheme broadly in more months to come.
